Cat RAM suporta placa de baza? – Linux

Daca dorim sa facem upgrade memoriei RAM, dar nu stim cat suporta placa de baza, atunci putem afla foarte usor cu ajutorul comenzilor din terminal. Atentie, acest articol se adreseaza celor care folosesc sisteme de operare Linux+GNU.

Memoria RAM este primul lucru la care trebuie sa ne gandim atunci cand dorim sa imbunatatim ceva la calculator sau la laptop. O placuta RAM nu costa foarte mult si poate fi usor de montat chiar si de catre persoane care nu au mare experienta in domeniu. Inainte de a alege sa faceti upgrade memoriei RAM a calculatorului sau a laptop-ului, asigurati-va ca stiti toate detaliile despre memoria suportata de placa de baza.

In afara de frecventa si tipul memoriei RAM, trebuie sa stiti si maximul de memorie care poate fi instalat intr-un singur slot pe placa de baza, dar si capacitatea totala suportata.

Pentru a afla capacitatea maxima a memoriei RAM care poate fi suportata de slot-ul de pe placa de baza, dar si despre capacitatea maxima suportata de placa de baza atunci cand utilizam o distributie Linux+GNU, folosim comanda dmidecode.

dmidecode este un instrument in linia de comanda care afiseaza informatii despre hardware-ul calculatorului. In cazul de fata, vom utiliza dmidecode pentru a afla informatii despre memoria RAM a calculatorului sau a laptop-ului.

Lansam terminalul (Ctrl + Alt + T) si introducem urmatoarea comanda:

sudo dmidecode -t 16

Rezultatul obtinut:

Pentru a obtine toate informatiile despre memoria RAM si tipul acesteia, ne putem ajuta de urmatoare comenzi:

# sudo dmidecode -t memory
 # sudo dmidecode -t memory | less
 # sudo dmidecode -t memory | more

PS: unele BIOS-uri nu vor oferi informatii precise. In cazul meu, apar ca existente 4 sloturi pentru memorie RAM, insa laptop-ul meu are doar doua care pot suporta un maxim de 16GB RAM per slot cu un total de 32GB RAM maxim suportat de placa de baza.
